Collecting Pikachu Cards: Three Prints from Different Sets
Start a focused Pikachu collection with selected English printings from different sets, comparing exact card identities and credited illustrators.
Start a focused Pikachu collection with English printings of Pikachu from 30th Celebration: Classic Collection and Base, plus Pikachu-EX from XY Black Star Promos. These three examples give you a manageable starting selection around the same Pokémon. Their sets, card names and illustrator credits offer useful ways to define your collection. They are not a complete Pikachu checklist.
Compare the exact printings
Pikachu from 30th Celebration: Classic Collection, 58/102, credits Mitsuhiro Arita. For a collection organized by set, record the full set name alongside the collector number: both help identify the English printing you want.
Pikachu from Base also carries collector number 58/102 and credits Mitsuhiro Arita. The matching name, number and illustrator make this a useful comparison: those details alone do not distinguish these printings. Including the set keeps the Base card and the 30th Celebration: Classic Collection card as separate collecting targets.
Pikachu-EX from XY Black Star Promos, XY124, adds a different card name and an illustrator credit to Megumi Mizutani. Including it is a choice about your collection's boundaries: you could collect Pikachu across card names or keep a narrower list of cards named simply Pikachu. Comparing illustrator credits also gives you another possible focus beyond the Pokémon itself.
Give your Pikachu collection clear boundaries
Before expanding the list, write a short collecting rule. This starting selection covers English-language physical cards from the exact sets shown. Adding another language or finish changes that scope; a shared Pokémon name does not make every printing interchangeable.
- Decide whether your collection includes both Pikachu and Pikachu-EX.
- Record each card's set, collector number and language before marking it collected.
- Choose which finishes you want, and check the finish separately rather than assuming it from the example image.
- Use these selected prints as starting targets, then add cards that fit your chosen rule.
Explore more Pikachu cards in Acorn TCG
Acorn TCG has a dedicated Pikachu catalogue that brings together related cards across sets. You can reach it through the Pokémon area of A-Dex or the Pokémon link on a card. Use the card grid, text search and Filter control to explore beyond this selection, then open a card to inspect its exact printing against your collecting rule.

The catalogue also shows collection progress, with collected and remaining card counts beside the progress bar. The close-up below makes those counts easier to read and helps you choose what to look for next. Opening a card and recording that you own it are separate actions.

For a smaller list based on these examples, you can create and name a custom Pikachu collection and follow its collected progress. Keep your collecting rule alongside it so the name stays tied to the sets, languages and finishes you actually want.
The card data used in this guide comes from the Acorn TCG catalogue.
